Music Technology and Training Center

 

The MTTL is situated in Room C9, College of Music on Lower Campus. Students who have registered for Music Technology at UCT can make use of this lab. It is used as a teaching venue for music technology, as well as a project laboratory for student music technology projects.

Resources:

This Lab is equipped with 20 Apple iMac computers. Students have access to the latest music technology software, which includes Apple Logic 9, Finale 2010, Avid Sibelius 7, and various other open source music applications. By the end of 2013 the lab will also be equipped with Ableton Live 9, Max 6 MSP Jitter + Gen, Composer’s Desktop Project and Earmaster. The SACM’s music technology strategic plan is to also add Protools 11 for preparation of work in the SACM’s recording environments as well additional hardware over the next few years to ensure C09 is also able to be used as a basic workstation recording, arrangement, compositional and music technology research venue.

The lab is equipped with a data projector and studio monitors for teaching purposes.

The SACM and CTU have employed a permanent music technologist to facilitate the advancement of music technology.
